Employment Type: Full-Time, Consultant Role

Position Summary
Integration Architect is a highly skilled technical expert responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise integration solutions across SAP and non-SAP platforms. This role focuses on delivering reliable, scalable, and high-performing integrations using modern integration technologies, particularly SAP BTP Integration Suite, while leveraging traditional SAP integration mechanisms where required.
The position requires deep expertise in integration patterns, SAP communication frameworks (including IDoc processing and queue-based messaging), and transformation technologies. The Integration Architect operates with autonomy, contributes to architecture decisions, and ensures adherence to standards, best practices, and platform governance while enabling seamless system connectivity across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
Integration Design & Development

  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise integration solutions using SAP BTP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration/CPI).
  • Develop and manage integrations leveraging SAP IDocs, including configuration of qRFC (queued RFC) and IDoc queues for reliable, asynchronous communication.
  • Implement integration patterns such as event-driven, API-based, and message-based architectures across SAP and third-party systems.
  • Develop mappings and transformations using XSLT, message mapping, and other transformation technologies.
  • Ensure high-quality integration design including exception handling, monitoring, and retry mechanisms.
  • Design and support EDI integrations, including mapping between EDI documents and SAP IDocs, ensuring compliance with trading partner requirements.
  • Collaborate with external partners and internal teams to onboard and maintain EDI connections.

SAP Integration Expertise

  • Configure and troubleshoot SAP IDoc processing, partner profiles, message types, and ALE distribution models.
  • Optimize IDoc inbound/outbound processing using queues to ensure data consistency and sequencing.
  • Support hybrid integration scenarios involving SAP S/4HANA, ECC, and cloud-based applications.
  • Leverage SAP PI/PO (Process Integration/Orchestration) as needed for legacy integrations or transition scenarios.
  • Collaborate with SAP functional and technical teams to align integration solutions with business processes.

Technical Development & Enhancement

  • Develop and support ABAP-based integration enhancements, including user exits, BADIs, and custom IDoc processing logic (preferred).
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis across integration layers (SAP and middleware).
  • Enhance existing integrations for performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Standards & Governance

  • Define and enforce enterprise integration standards, naming conventions, and best practices.
  • Promote reusable integration artifacts, templates, and frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with security, performance, and data governance requirements.
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Operational Support & Monitoring

  • Monitor integration flows and proactively resolve incidents to ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Support deployment, transport management, and lifecycle activities across integration environments.
  • Maintain documentation for integrations, interfaces, and technical configurations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with application teams, architects, and business stakeholders to define integration requirements and solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for SAP integration technologies across projects and initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and integration engineers.

Qualifications
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Strong experience in enterprise application integration, particularly within SAP environments.
  • Proven expertise with SAP BTP Integration Suite (CPI).
  • Hands-on experience with SAP IDoc configuration and queue-based processing (qRFC/tRFC).
  • Strong experience in XSLT transformations and message mapping techniques.
  • Solid understanding of integration patterns (synchronous/asynchronous, event-driven, API-based).
  • Experience with integration monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with SAP PI/PO (Process Integration/Orchestration).
  • Working knowledge of ABAP development, particularly for integration enhancements.
  • Familiarity with API management, REST/SOAP services, and messaging protocols.
  • Experience with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) standards and integrations, including:
    • ANSI X12, EDIFACT, or other industry-standard EDI formats
    • EDI transaction sets (e.g., 850, 810, 856, 997)
    • Integration with VANs (Value-Added Networks) or direct partner connections (AS2, SFTP)
    • Experience mapping and transforming EDI messages to/from SAP IDocs
  • Experience working in Agile environments and using tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and transport automation.

Key Competencies

  • Deep technical expertise in SAP integration technologies
  • Strong systems thinking and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Ability to balance legacy and modern integration approaches
  • Collaboration and stakeholder engagement
  • Continuous improvement mindset and attention to quality
