Application Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a motivated Application Engineer to support machining and manufacturing initiatives. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in CNC machining and programming who is looking to grow their technical expertise in a collaborative, hands-on environment. You will work closely with senior engineers, customers, and internal teams to develop, test, and optimize manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support application engineering activities under the guidance of senior team members
• Participate in ongoing training and development through internal and external resources
• Design and assemble fixtures and workholding solutions for demos, test cuts, and turnkey projects
• Perform time studies and cost estimates for customer parts
• Calculate optimal speeds and feeds for machining processes
• Develop CNC programs using conversational programming, CAM software, and G-code/macro programming
• Set up CNC machines, including tooling, fixtures, and workpieces
• Inspect finished parts to ensure quality and adherence to specifications
• Prepare engineering reports and technical documentation
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, and external suppliers

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (preferred), or equivalent hands-on machining experience
• 2+ years of relevant experience in CNC machining or application engineering
• Strong understanding of part processing, metal cutting, blueprint reading, and machine setup
• Basic knowledge of metallurgy
• Experience with CNC programming and CAM systems
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Analytical mindset with solid problem-solving abilities
• Willingness to work standard full-time hours, with occasional overtime as needed
