Senior Backend Engineer

Overview

We are a technology-driven organization operating at the intersection of financial services and digital assets, building infrastructure that supports institutional-grade platforms. Our team focuses on developing secure, scalable systems that power the management, movement, and growth of both fiat and digital assets.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a New York-based engineering team responsible for building and maintaining systems that support custody, staking, and asset management workflows within a high-performance, cloud-native environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and architect scalable backend services on a cloud-native platform, with a focus on automation, reliability, and security
  • Build and enhance systems responsible for transaction processing and asset inventory management
  • Develop and maintain staking and workflow management systems for digital assets
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams supporting trading, lending, settlement, frontend applications, and infrastructure
  • Contribute to system design decisions and help shape architecture for high-throughput, low-latency environments
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and production support

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals and system design
  • Proven experience designing and building scalable backend systems
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: Java, Scala, Kotlin, C#, or similar (Java preferred)
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming principles
  • Experience working across the full development lifecycle, including agile environments and production systems
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over system quality and performance

Nice to Have

  • Experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Background in financial services, fintech, or digital assets
  • Understanding of asynchronous or reactive programming models
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and domain-driven design
  • Knowledge of concurrency and multi-threading concepts, particularly in Java
